We’re Rethink Certified!

Lunchbox is officially Rethink Certified, backing our mission of helping our NYC community.

Our partnership will invite all our restaurant clients to incorporate philanthropic support into their operations to help provide nutritious meals for local communities impacted by food insecurity.

Rethink Food is a nonprofit with the mission to create a more sustainable and equitable food system— one where everyone has access to high-quality, nutritious, and affordable food. Rethink Food’s flagship program, Rethink Certified, is a network of like-minded restaurants, kitchens, and corporations that connect communities impacted by food insecurity nationwide with nutritious and culturally celebrated meals while supporting economic development and utilizing excess and/or donated food.

SINCE APRIL 2020, RETHINK FOOD HAS:

  • Delivered 7M+ meals to local communities impacted by food insecurity.

  • Used 1.2M+ pounds of excess and/or donated food, resulting in a savings of 3 million pounds of carbon dioxide and 27.6 million gallons of fresh water.

  • Directed over $30M to 115+ restaurants and food establishments across NYC, Chicago, SF, Nashville, and Miami.

  • Partnered with 125+ community-based organizations to distribute meals.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR OUR CLIENTS

Lunchbox is backing Rethink Food’s mission to a more equitable and sustainable food system. As a Rethink Certified partner, we will invite all NYC restaurant locations to be part of the Rethink Certified network through any of the following ways:

  • Fundraise to support Rethink Food’s work:

You can incorporate financial support into your operations to help provide meals for the community–such as adding a donation to checks, auctioning tables, and hosting events. Dollars raised will support local restaurants part of the Rethink Food’s network to prepare meals for their neighbors. Every $5 raised will sponsor 1 meal.

  • Excess food donation to help prepare community meals:

Excess food donated to Rethink Food will be collected and converted into nutritious meals for food-insecure New Yorkers at Rethink Food's commissary kitchen. Meals will be distributed to the community via community-based organizations.
